Pray for students

These students are "diciples" in our campus ministry. That means they have deeper commitment for God and for our minisry. We pray for them the same as the previous group, but they live their relationship in a deeper level than the new believers.

In this pictures you can see how the students connet to each other in the dicipleship. We are so thankful to God there are several students who can lead other students in their faith and life. Please pray for wisdom to lead, their life and faith will be an example in other students' eyes.

A week for pray

Starting yesterday our staff has gathered for four days of prayer. Yesterday morning we were praying for the new believers in our movement. 52 students who made their decision recently or have been baby Christians for years. We prayed for them:
:: that they would be rooted in and love God's Word
:: that they would form Biblical convictions
:: that they would begin sharing their faith, and
:: that they would grow in the trials the will face

My nephew

One week ago my sister's son was born with 3550 g and 54 cm. His name is Pistike (Stevie). He is very cute baby :)

Student retreat Nov 6-8.

We had a very encouraging weekend with over 120 student. This is the largest number of students (both high school and campus) coming to these weekends. Once a semester we have this special gathering to deepen the students’ commitment in their walk with God, to grow their knowledge of the Bible, encourage them in their faith, worship together and enjoy fellowship. It was a fantastic weekend with lot of fun. Of course sometimes it happens that non-Christian students are coming to these weekends. This was the case at this weekend, too. The theme for the retreat was "Is Jesus enough?" Throughout the weekend students were challenged to trust Christ fully, maybe for the first time in their life.

One of the students, Adam, took a huge step forward this weekend. During the last meeting of the weekend he stood up before the entire audience and said, "I made a decision to become a Christian today!" Everybody began to clap and cheer for him. It was a terrific way for the retreat to come to an end.

Improv Theatre Night

On October 9th we had almost 200 students who came to our Improv Theatre Night in High-School Ministry. It was fantastic! We had a “referee" and we had two comedy teams on either side of the stage who "competed" for laughs from the audience. Periodically we would have the audience vote on which game they liked most by applauding for their favorite team. The students loved it so much! Improv is only now starting to really take off in Hungary...and we are hoping to get a lot of mileage out of this team of actors who have begun to gel very well with each other. At the end of the evening Zach, our High-School team leader shared the Gospel through some personal stories. We collected comment cards from the students based on their thoughts on what Zach said...and then we used the cards to do a raffle at the end of the night. The main prize was an IPod Shuffle. The lucky winner was a girl from one of the new high schools where we had been speaking this week. Now in these weeks we contact these students, to follow up with them.

Kolozsvar

We had a great time in Kolozsvar, Transylvania, Romania. We saw God's work in the students' heart. Our students helped to train the Transylvanian students how they can share the gospel personally. Our team had about thirty appointment with non-believers.
On Wednesday night in big evangelization outhreach there were about 35-40 students that had never attented any events before.

Kolozsvár, Transylvania - October 21-22.

Next Monday a little team (staffs and students) will go to Kolozsvar. They plan to distribute Survival Kits and call on phone students to talk about their opinion about Christianity. On Wednesday two of my colligues and me join to the team. On Wednesday evening there will be a big evangelization outreach to campus students. Please pray for lots of students coming and there will be some students who received Christ. Thanks for your prayers!

YTL Symposium

This message is not adequate to describe to you the impact of this week and the YTL symposium. We can’t share with you the dozens of meaningful conversations, the hundreds of invitations we’ve received to go to schools and speak there to students. We have received 215 feedback cards from the educators and 94% of them wants to use YTL and need our help in that!

In the past week with the help of 22 Americans (who came to the Bringing to the Hungarian Harvest Project - BHHP) we had this special “celebration” which led to directly impact over 30,000 students and educators. Just to briefly summarize the impact of these here are some statistics:
-150 students came to the campus outreach and close to 200 students came to the high school outreach and have heard the gospel
-at 8 high school assemblies over 1,500 students were listening to a ,,Why wait?” talk and had been invited to an outreach event.
-our team with the help of our guests spoke at over 50 classrooms in both high schools and campuses and invited hundreds of students to the outreaches
-over 4,000 evangelistic SSK’s had been distributed to freshmen on campus
-shared Christ with over 100 students personally
-280 educators came to the YTL symposium, for 222 of them this was the first YTL symposium. Four of them prayed to receive Christ. These educators will teach YTL to more 25,000 students and they’ll show the Jesus dvd to more than 15,000 students in their classrooms. The new 3rd YTL curriculum and dvd that we’ve produced was a great success!
-at 4 dorm outreaches over 130 students have heard the gospel.

But what best describes the life-changing impact of YTL and really motivates us are the changed lives. Here is just one out of the hundreds: "5 years ago I was at a YTL symposium and it had a great impact on me. I've received Jesus Christ there and since than our lives are continue changing, my life along my family's life. The emphasis in my life had been changed, I don't direct my life any more, but I listen what the Lord of my life, Jesus Christ wants to tell me through the Holy Spirit. It was a great spiritual adventure - in a positive way - to get to know this way and leave the old lifestyle. I needed great courage to believe that God loves unconditionally, forgave me and I can trust in Him; I can rely my family's life and my friend's life on Him with hope and faith. Thanks God and for you for this great miracle." - these sentences were written by an educator who came to the 15th anniversary celebration YTL symposium and gives a great example of the impact of YTL in the lives of the educators and students.

Your prayers and support were absolutely essential in the past 15 years! God used your partnership to impact over 500,000 students in Hungary and millions around the World through YTL! Thank you!

Please pray for us!

Today we have 22 American men and women arriving from Dallas, Kansas City, Atlanta, Oklahoma City and Memphis to join us for a week of evangelism. We will do the followings:

Monday: personal evangelism, evangelistic events in three dorms.
Tuesday: personal evangelism, evangelistic events in two more dorms (five different dorms altogether on Monday and Tuesday)
Wednesday: Freshmen Survival Kit distribution at one college, English classroom presentations and Universities and high schools, personal evangelism, large outreach at the campus weekly meeting (hoping and praying for 200 to come)
Thursday: More classroom presentations, Freshmen Survival Kit distribution at two more colleges
Friday: more classroom presentations, high school large outreach, Teacher's symposium begins Friday evening
Saturday and Sunday: Teachers symposium, sharing the gospel with more than 300 teachers at our accredited teachers training program!! A celebration Banquet with the american mission team, closing the week!

Wow! The week will be full!!!

1. Please pray for many decisions among students to start a NEW LIFE!
2. Please pray for our staff team. We already had two injuries, and two other staff are dealing with flu, and one staff will have an operation with hernia right in the middle of BHHP week. We need God's protection over our staff and our families, so that we can carry out God's plan for this week! We have so many opportunities to share the Gospel it fills me with real excitement for this coming week! JOIN US in praying for the team from the States, for our student leaders and for our staff, so that we can reach many. Our faith-goal is to reach 1 300 - 1 500 students with the Gospel on different colleges, and several hundreds of high-school students, and the teachers. We will reach over 2000 Hungarians with the Gospel message in a short week!

What's next?

October 19 - 23: our campus ministry will send a team of 5 staff and 5 students to Romania for a week long mission trip. We will do lots of evangelism and training among the students in Cluj, helping our Crusade ministry there!!
November 6-8: Student Ministry Fall Retreat!

Girls Bible study

This afternoon girls bible-study started. We meet every Monday for two hours. In the first hour about 20 girls share their experience about God and we try to know better each other. In the second hour we separete to small groups by level of their Christian maturity. I help for two girls of our student leader to lead a follow up group. Today we talked about importance of quite time. It was a good talking and company :) Please pray for us.

Our Campus ministry have started to distribute Student Survival Kits from yesterday. They were in Technical University yesterday and 2500 students had opportunity to get a folder with some article and Gospel. Hopefully, we can call them back and talk personally about Jesus. Please pray for them!

Summary of Speak Out 2009

During the month of SpeakOut 4 times a week 60 Hungarian student and staff paired up to go out and share Christ at the beach or in the city and had meaningful conversations about Christ.

Tuesday morning we have a Bible-study group for the Hungarian student disciples. On Wednesday morning we hold a four level Discipleship Training class for them. And also there are small group and personal discipleship times for them.

With the help of the 35 American volunteers we teach English to the Hungarian student campers who are coming from all the different parts of the country. Every morning we have Morning Classes and after that they break up in to small groups with their American tutors. Great way to share Christ!

Each Wednesday night during SpeakOut we had a special evangelistic talk to the campers and whoever came to our invitation through personal evangelism.

We’ve approached 1808 people to share the gospel with them.
The gospel was personally shared with 1064 of them.
67 indicated a decision and 42 already went through follow up with us!
173 of the campers wants to know more about YTL and get involved!
Pray for them as we’ll involve them in discispleship groups.
We’ve never seen such high number of campers indicating decisions!

Staff conference

I am in our national staff conference. I really enjoy the teaching. Our speaker is Swede Anderson who is one of first staff member in Campus Crusade. It is good listening his experiences from beginings of CCC. We talked a lot about our staff life, too. We also have lots of fun in the swimming pool :) Later I upload some pictures.

SPEAK OUT 2009 and two projects

This is the first week in our English camp. This is always the highlight of the year. Great evangelistic opportunities, lot of time together with our disciples , new American friends and lot of fun. Please pray for this project and for our students!
Praise God! Every week is full of students and there is no place to accept new ones! It is not happened in the last some years. Over 300 non-believer students come and have opportunity to listen gospel.

Albania and Transylvania!

In the second and third week of the Speak Out some students and staff members will go to Albania and Transylvania. It is so exciting! We will have and Evangelistic Outreach with the Albanian and Romanian Campus Crusade for Christ.

Please pray for these projects! Lots of challenges that our teams can expect! Long drive to Albania, strange food, share gospel in English, etc.!

NFM Advanced Training

I attended a Financial Manager Advanced Training in the last two weeks. I really enjoyed this training. I had an opportunity to learn more about finance in Campus Crusade. We talked about a lot internal control, fixed assets, executive summary for leadership, accounting, materials, financial statements and reports, etc. We worked a lot in groups. I really enjoyed it. At the end we had an exam. I hope I pass it :) I think it is not too interesting for some of you. However, this training was a good opportunity to develop in my part in the mission field. I am hoping I can serve God and our staff members with my new knowledge.

My sister wedding

On May 23th my sister, Emi got married. Her husband name is Pisti. It was a very beautiful and special day for my family. Firstly the civil ceremony was, after then the church ceremony. At the evening we went to have a dinner together. It was not a big traditional Hungarian wedding. However we ate a lot and dance a little bit :)

Csosz

Last weekend our praise and worship group from Campus Ministry was invited to participate a evangelization event in a small town not too far from Budapest. The invitation arrived from a Presbyterian minister and Catlic priest from that town, Csosz. Our student worship group played songs and we praised God together. Our staff member spoke about our times and one of our students told his testimony. Several people from the small town came and just looked around what was happenning :)
It was a blessed day for the youth and for us, too. We got a wonderful lunch from the ladies from local church. The guys enjoyed it very much :)

Staff days

Every beginning of May staff members spend two days together to remember what is happened in the previous year. We praise God and pray for each other. It was in May 4-5. It was so encouraging for me, because lots of things happened as you can see in my blog.

May 1st

I celebrate first of May with resting :) I spent some nice hours in Kopaszi-gat, one of the most beautiful park in Budapest. I enjoyed biking, sitting in the grass, praying and reading my Bible.

About ghosts

Yesterday we hold the evangelization talking in "Bethlen" dorm. Six students came. It is the average student number in our YTL group. It was an interesting conversation about ghosts. One of the boys was a pcihologist who was very interested about this topic. He had opinion for everything and he told everything in "scientist language". The girls were a little bit silent. To lead this conversation was a challenge to me. God helped a lot. At the end I could share the gospel. We are praying for the students in this dorm. One of our staff member has good relationship with some other girls and two weeks ago a girl received Christ. God is working in the students' heart. Thanks for your prayers!

Evangelization in a dorm

We have to modify the dorm evangelization where I would talk about Ghost, because there is spring break in the univercities. It will be April 20th.

Student retreat

On the first weekend of April we had the usual Student Retreat at Csilleberc (this is a place where during communist only the good young communists could come for a retreat - it’s ironic that now we can have a Christian Retreat there where God’s name couldn’t be mentioned). This weekend is much-waited by the students and brings renewal in their walk with God. The teachings, the worship, the fellowship, the opportunity for deep, personal conversations and the fun give a great deal of encouragement for these young believers. About 80 students came for this weekend (and 6 of them were non-Christians). Ronnie Stevens was speaking on Friday night on the Characteristics of a Radical Christian. Saturday Gabor, our National Director continued the subject in his talk by giving practical examples from the Bible and from history of Radical Christians. We’ve had 3 special guests for this weekend, the Board of YTL. (The members of the Board serve YTL with their leadership expertise.) It was very helpful for the students to hear stories from these 3 brothers who have been proving themselves in leadership in the professional world on how to represent Christ in a secular environment and be a leader according to God’s desire.

Visiting in a mission

Yesterday some people from my church visited an mission that help young men who use drogs. It is an house where the boys move in and get theraphy. My church organizes a course people who would like to know more about Jesus and Christianity. Some boys from the drog therapy home participate in evangelization course in our church. They were so nice and invited us to visit them in the mission. They call the home as a "mission". They were very open and told lots of details from their former life, about therapy, their feelings. They talked about God's love and mercy, God escapes them. Their testemony was so powerful!

Prayer requests

Please pray for the nexts:
- 3-5 April, Student Retreat for our Christian Students. Topic will be “Sunday Christian?!” Please pray for good lectures, good mood, cheer, deep talking.
- 6 April. There is a dorm next corner to my flat. Every second Monday we organize a club for non-believer students. In April 6th I will lead the discussion about ghosts and hauntings. We have a very good manual that helps in preparation. Pleas pray for me to share the gospel clearly.
- YTL teacher manual 3rd book is been writing by our staffs.

Battle of the Bands

On March 20th, 2009 4th time we’ve organized a special outreach for High School and University students, called “Battle of the Bands” (BoB). At this competition there is a relevant and clear gospel presentation. Over 500 students came, and most of them would have never ever go to a church or would have any opportunity to hear about Christ! We’ve asked these students to fill out a survey and we’ve received back hundreds of contact informations! It gives us a great opportunity to meet with these students and share Christ with them personally.

Operation Director Conference

Thank you very much for your prayer. I really felt you were with me last Saturday. I gave a devotion. I talk about evangalization how a background staff can participate in the field ministry. I learned about it a lot in the last some years.
The conference was interesting. Maybe it doesn't sound interesting for you :) We talked about job discriptions, finance, what being an operations leader means.

Bulgarian audit

I arrived home from Sofia (capital of Bulgaria) one week ago. It was a really good experiance to do an audit at first time. I worked with Ani. She is the National Women Coordinator in Romania. She was the Financial Manager in Romania for five years. We really enjoyed the time with our Bulgarian staff members. They were nice and friendly. We worked hard and we wanted to get a good picture about Bulgarian situation. In the last day we presented our findings and recommanditions to the Leadership team. Last day we had a chance to look around in Sofia.

Prayer request

First of all I want to say THANK you! I am very grateful for your commitment to the Hungarian ministry and me. Thanks for your donations, too. I got enough gifts to stay in the ministry next year. Maybe you remember for my request in December. God provides a nice amount that is why I won’t need to travel to raise support next May and I can continue my ministry in Hungary. However, I would be happy to visit you :), but I can save lots of money if I don’t go. I would like to be a better steward with support that God gives me through you. You have been so gracious over the years, and for that I give thanks to the Lord.

1. I have a privilige to go to Bulgaria. Bulgaria is part of our Area in Eastern Europe. Maybe you remember I got a training to make audits in last November in Romania. From February 15th to 21th I will make an audit in Sofia, Bulgaria to check the Bulgarian books. I will be the first audit that my collegues (she is Romanian) and me do. So, I need you prayer to do a good job.

2. Last days in February I go a training for staff in background ministries (finanences, operations). I was invited and asked to give an devations. The devation is a challenge for me. I have to talk about evangelization and dicipleship in background ministry. They thought of me because I am involved in our campus ministry and an evangelization serious in my church ( I lead a small group discussion). Please pray for my English, everybody understand me :)

Girls and boys day

Today we had a fantastic girls and boys day! About 40 students came and we talked about dating, sexuality, friendship between girls and guys. We had time separately (girls and boys) and we could talk about own feelings in a deeper way. I think we had a very good atmosphere where we could talk about very sensitive topics. We saw God gaves us wisdom to reach our students' hearts.

SPEAK OUT 2009

Each Summer we have a conversational English camp in Hungary at the Lake Balaton sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ, Hungary (in the name of the Youth at the Threshold of Life program). Bible school in January

We started January with Bible School. Every staff member have to develop their knowledge of theology. In this year our lessons was introduction of New Testament. We talked about historical questions dealing with authorship, date, sources, purpose, destination, etc., in all books of the New Testament. It was so interesting. I enjoy to know more about God's Word. I hope I can use it in my personal bible study.
I would like to recommend a book that helped me a lot in this course. The book title is An Introduction to the New Testament by D.A. Carson & Douglas J. Moo.
