Festival of Folk Arts in Buda Castle

Every year for four days Buda Castle is in the centre of interest all over the country. Thanks to the Festival of Folk Arts about 800 craftsmen and 80 000 visitors spend these days in the spirit of traditions.

The Festival of Folk Arts, this traditional meeting of folk artists, will be held for the 25th time this year. In the historic environment of the Buda Castle, for four days craftsmen will be displaying traditional crafts and skills in open workshops and visitors will be involved into the process of creation. In addition to the folk craft shows the craftsmen will also offer their goods for sale in the traditional folk art fair. Hungarian and foreign folk dancers and musicians will perform on different stages and there will be a traditional – wear parade entitled “Ages and age groups – casual and formal fashion” everyday and holiday attire of the Galga the Sárköz the Kalocsa and the Rábaköz regions.

In day time hours visitors will be entertained in a lively fair atmosphere: street theatres, puppet shows and childrens programs and in the evenings they will be invited to dance in the dancehouse. This year the Festival of Folk Arts will share an anniversary with the 20 years old Wine Festival. That will give an opportunity for a series of programs that popularize vine culture as well. Lopózás – “colouring corner”, “bottle it yourself” programs and a winemaker's training courses for children will wait for the youngest visitors.

I visited this festival for a half day to look around and find some nice gifts to my friends. I hope you will enjoy my pictures and will like the Hungarian folks.

Happy Easter!

"Be not afraid. Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen!" Mark 16:6

Wipo: Easter Sequence

Christians, to the Paschal Victim offer sacrifice and praise.
The sheep are ransomed by the Lamb;
And Christ, the undefiled,
Hath sinners to his Father reconciled.
Death with life contended: combat strangely ended!
Life’s own Champion, slain, yet lives to reign.
Tell us, Mary: say what thou didst see upon the way.
The tomb the living did enclose;
I saw Christ’s glory as he rose!
The angels there attesting;
Shroud with grave-clothes resting.
Christ, my hope, has risen: he goes before you into Galilee.
That Christ is truly risen from the dead we know.
Victorious king, thy mercy show!

During the Easter Sunday liturgy, after the Second Reading and before the Gospel Acclamation, the Easter Sequence is read or sung. This liturgical poem, composed especially for the feast of Easter, was written by Wipo of Burgundy, a priest and chaplain to the Holy Roman Emperor, Konrad II. Wipo died about 1050 AD. One thousand years later, at the beginning of the third millennium, this beautiful poem, written at the beginning of the second millennium, can still resonate in our hearts. This sequence, Victimae Paschali (Paschal Victim) can be prayed during the Easter season.

A day with my church

Last Saturday my church (Reformed Church in Gazdagret) joined to a community day in Gazdagret. Gazdagret is a blocks of houses area in Budapest. About 20000 people live here.
We tried to show who we are. We organized children program, worship. There was a book store, pictures about church life. One of our elder made a survey about life of Gazdagret and Christianity. If somebody stoped to watch pictures or books we asked to help to fill out our survey. We could talk with some people and invite them to our church and our evangelization course.

Flood situation critical in North Hungary

I found a short article that write down the flood situation in Hungary. You can see pictures here:
http://galeria.index.hu/belfold/2010/06/07/arviz_a_magasbol/

Please pray for our country!!! THANK you very much!

"Several thousands of people were still stranded Saturday in northern Hungary as the flooding situation remained critical after over a month of near-continuous rainfall, authorities said.

"Along the banks of the Hernad, Sajo and Boldva rivers some 2,300 people were evacuated due to the water flooding homes in the towns and villages" in the northeast region, a spokesman for the rescue services said.

Over 12,000 police officers, soldiers and firemen are involved in the rescue operation, which has enjoyed a rare dry spell since Friday that is forecast to last for the next week.

In Budapest the docks of the flooded river Danube were shut and the banks of Margaret island, a major tourist destination in the capital, were protected by sand bags.

Agriculture has been hit by the incessant rainfall too, with experts predicting a drop of between 30 and 40 percent in fruit production.

In the month of May alone, between 210 and 220 millimetres of rain fell per square metre, the equivalent of an entire year's worth of rainfall normally, according to meteorological services.

In northeastern Hungary, the level reached a record 273 millimetres per square metre."

Weekend in Mandok

My homegroup (a Bible study group in my church) spent a wonderful weekend in Mandok, a small town in North-East Hungary. One of our group member grew up in Mandok. She showed us that beautiful side of Hungary. We saw nice little churches from 13th and 17th century. A little, sweet lady told us the story of the church. This area is full of Hungarian folklore.
You can see some pictures about our trip:

Visiting in a mission

Yesterday some people from my church visited an mission that help young men who use drogs. It is an house where the boys move in and get theraphy. My church organizes a course people who would like to know more about Jesus and Christianity. Some boys from the drog therapy home participate in evangelization course in our church. They were so nice and invited us to visit them in the mission. They call the home as a "mission". They were very open and told lots of details from their former life, about therapy, their feelings. They talked about God's love and mercy, God escapes them. Their testemony was so powerful!

My trip in US

Tomorrow I will travel back to Hungary. It was a good trip for me. I could meet most of you and I could know lots of new friends. I really appreciate all of your helps that you could give me. God was again incredible. He gave me a heavenly trust in His care. I haven't known yet the fund that I raised will be enough or not, but I know my Heavenly Father will take care of me. He called me to the Campus Crusade to be a financial manager. So, trust in the Lord in every circumstances.
Every month I download a wallpaper to my computer from crosscards.com. In June I read the next by Charles Spurgeon: If we cannot believe God when circumstances appear against us, we do not believe Him at all. I pray this attitude will be ours, too.
Thank you so much for your friendship and partnership!!!!!
