„It all started in late October 2013. Just another
ordinary, average day at the university. Then around 6 pm someone called me. At
first I hesitated because I didn’t know the number, I was exhausted and didn’t expect
a call from anyone. But I answered. I
had no idea my life was about to change forever. It was Gábor from FÉK and
he asked me if I wanted to meet him to talk about God over a coffee.
‘Well…sure!’
The reason I said a yes was simple: I was curious. I was raised as a
Catholic but that didn’t change the fact that my knowledge about God was
very-very limited. I went to church every Sunday, said a quick prayer before
going to sleep and sometimes asked for His help. I haven’t even read the Bible.
Not even the New Testament. Then Gábor and I started to talk about what the
Bible actually teaches us about God. So I
started reading the Scripture. But I had many questions; I needed guidance,
I needed reassurance. I needed a Savior. When telling him about my concerns,
Gábor was just smiling and said enthusiastically: But you have a Savior! You
need guidance, you need answers? Accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and you get
guidance you get answers, you get an eternal life in Heaven! Just put your
faith in God’s grace!
That’s it? Faith? I’m saved by just faith? By grace
alone?
Turns out, I am! – Ephesians 2:8-9
Now, more than 6 months later I can honestly say I’ve
never been happier. Since that day in
October I’velearned more and more
about my personal relationship with my Heavenly Father. He keeps teaching me through His Word and I can talk to him through prayer.
I’m truly blessed how much my Father cares forme and my family. If we had met a year ago and you had
told me that by the time I’m 20 I’m done with all the partying and drinking, my
constant anxiety is nonexistent, and I’m truly happy in the Holy Spirit, I
probably would have told you: that’s not happiness when you are 20 and in
college!
Well, it is. How can you not be happy when you know you
are saved? How can you not praise your
Heavenly Father when you know you are blessed in His
Spirit (Galatians 5:22) and you have an eternal life in Heaven? And how can you worry when Jesus told
you: “Do not be afraid, little flock, for yourFather has been pleased to give you the kingdom.” (Luke
12:32)
This is my story. I’m forever thankful to my Father for
meeting Gábor and all my friends at FÉK.”
